In some parts of the world, there are already people benefiting from the use of solar electricity. This alternative energy is very popular all around the world because of it’s positive effect on both the economy and the environment. With all the research done for solar electricity, we have definitely made a lot of progress over the years.

A very popular component we use for residential solar power are the solar panels. These are used to transform and convert the sunlight into what we call solar electricity. Photovoltaic technology is behind the magic of the solar panel. With the help of photovoltaic cells, it can convert the solar energy it gets from the sun into solar electricity which can then power our lights, televisions and other electrical appliances.

The main tool needed to maximize the use of solar electricity is the solar panel. It is a specialized panel consisting of solar cells that absorbs sunlight and converts it into useful solar electricity. Photovoltaic works through two or more semi-conductors, which are usually made of silicon that is when exposed to light, produces electrical charges that can be converted into direct current.

Nowadays, no matter what country you are in, news about solar electricity are everywhere. There are more and more people that install systems in their homes daily. Why is that so?

We all know that using solar electricity greatly helps not only your country but also for the greater good of the world. The whole process to produce solar energy is harmless as it does not create greenhouse gases hence doesn’t hurt the environment. The full operation and maintenance of the system goes smoothly with minimal checking needed. It is also better than other sources of alternative energy mainly because it runs so quietly. The bonus of lowering your monthly electricity bill doesn’t hurt either.

So how can we start using solar electricity?

First of course is that, we would have to purchase a solar panel that will be responsible to absorb sunlight during daytime. The purchase alone could amount $4-$6 per watt, depending on the amount of energy that we need. The installation is of course another charge.

But if you’re working on a tight budget, never worry since you can build your own solar panels to produce solar electricity by just few clicks on the internet.

With the help of alternative energy like solar electricity, you can save money and of course, the environment. This will certainly make the lives of our children a better one. So start today and give back to the world. You will never regret it.

As we learn more about wind power and its ability to generate clean renewable energy, we are also discovering that all we have to do is go to our history books to find these original ideas. Energy was needed for water in remote areas and turning crops into grain.

The Egyptians used vertical wind power to grind their wheat 3,000 years ago and now some companies are toying with the idea of vertical wind mills on a small scale basis for residential use. They are especially effective where the wind shifts directions or where a stead wind flow is not reliable.

A three kilowatt version is powerful enough to generate enough power for one household without the noise, extreme height or large amount of land needed as that of the horizontal units. Further, environmentalists will be happy to hear that there is no danger of birds and bats being drawn into a vertical turbine because of the unique design and rotation.

People who like artistic designs would love these models since they are designed so beautifully. These days, one of these models is becoming quite popular in a lot of parts in the UK. The charging points of these vertical towers are being set up by Mercedes Benz in collaboration with the manufacturers. The power generated by these will hopefully suffice for a per year driving of 30,000 miles for the new electric care product of Mercedes Benz, Smart fortwo.

A 500 watt unit is also installed in the garage of Jay Leno along with a bigger 10kw model in his garage which measures about 17,000 square feet. Though, these days the preliminary investment and installation charges are astronomical ($20,000), slowly as the demand for these units will increase, most residential owners will be able to afford these units. Many of Jay Leno’s practically applied ideas can be found at the Popular Mechanics website.

Apart from the residential complexes, hotels are also using this vertical turbine on their rooftops across the world from New Zealand to London. In a recent event, independently tested model in Utah was unveiled at Washington in US Botanical Garden and received a lot of critical acclaim. Most of these units are smaller than six feet and are being hailed for a myriad of possibilities that they have opened up.

There is also a different kind of vertical windmill which uses the principles of sailing engineering. Solar cells cover the turbine vanes which helps in generating a combination of solar and wind power. If you want something which can help you to harness the wind or solar energy but is not heavy or bulky, this could be a great option for you. A lot of awarded and patented inventions are being marketed in the past years and new inventions are being created.

As we discover more and more about our history of energy, options available and the realism that this will work, you can’t help but get excited about all of the new technology today in renewable energy. Join a few websites on green energy and stay abreast on the latest inventions. Germany is a leader in promoting wind energy and many international sites are available as well. Don’t settle for what you feel is unrealistic in alternative energy when there are so many choices coming on the market.

How can we live in a more environmentally friendly way? How can individuals help to reduce the carbon consumption? Indeed, there are a lot of ways that an individual can contribute. Let’s take a look now!

These ways are inexpensive and put forward them into our daily lives . The first step to start with is to consume less.

In the daytime, try to use natural light instead of using the light bulb. Use less gas or oil by combining your errands, for instance, cook multiple items at the same time so you turn the oven on only once a day, and turn off the water tap when you are brushing your teeth. Don’t worry, living green won’t cost you but only save you money.

Reusing things is also a way to reduce carbon consumption. Ziploc bags, tinfoil and plastic utensils are some items that can be reused in the purpose they initially served. On the other hand, you can also discover a new usage of items that you already possess.

Furthermore, you can use secondhand products instead of new ones. This can also reduce your expenditure on our world’s valuable resources.

Apart from reduce and reuse, recycle is also a good choice. Many cities offer free recycling, so just act and take advantage of it. There are many channels for recycling. Not only free recycling service, there are many organizations and churches collect paper products.

There are a lot of recycling bins are they usually collect newspapers, magazines and boxes. This way is mutually beneficial to both organization and yourself. Organizations can gain money in such way and you can recycle paper rather than just throw them into a bin.

Do remember to recycle your used aluminum cans. Take those cans to a can depositor who is near you, as it can help save the environment and even let you earn a little!

Plastic is perhaps one of the worst chemical materials that humans have invented in recent decades. Plastic is generally non-biodegradable. Thus, it causes serious environmental problems and posts huge biological hazard to living organisms. A huge amount of plastic wastes is being created every day. The resulting pollution is destroying our ecosystem, with the ocean being one of the largest victims.

Plastic is being used worldwidely as it is cheap, easy to make ad long-lasting. However, plastic places great damage to the environment and people always dump them also because of its features, especially for the carry bags and disposable bottles.

Because of urbanization, pollution is mainly concentrated in cities. These materials are difficult to decompose, and will stay in the earth for many centuries. Hence the environment will be greatly polluted.

As synthetic polymers can be shaped into any figure, some are formed into thin films which can be made into enduring carrybags and packing materials. While these non-biodegradable materials are dumped, they persist in the soil without changing form.

As reported in the latest studies, there are 105 million tonnes of plastic produced per annum. People in India where only 2.5 million tonnes are produced use only 4 kg of plastic annually, while people in western and European countries use 70 kg annually. Nevertheless, the use of plastic is growing around the world.

Apart from that, the number of plastic waste in the ocean is also increasing. The majority of the objects found on the beaches are packaging materials and polymers.

This greatly ruins the life and habitat of marine life. Turtles and seabirds are the ones which bear the most. As you can see, plastic pollution is one of the most serious problems in the world, even greater than the problem of the ozone hole and global warming.

To keep away from this destructive threat, it is necessary not to use the non-biodegradable carry bags. Replacing any plastics in any places at anytime by durable and reusable jute bags and canvas bags can certainly help. In addition, manufacturing companies ought to use brown paper or other alternatives to pack and wrap cartons.

With the current state of the economy and our dwindling global oil supply, everyone is a little scared about what the future holds. But fear can also be a positive motivator. Case in point is the new homemade solar panels industry that has sprung up. Everyone knows that we need to cut back on energy usage and especially fossil fuels like oil that cause environmental damage as well as global warming. Low cost homemade solar panels appear to be the solution. These homemade solar power systems use deep cycle batteries to store the electricity and can be used 24 hours a day, even at night.

Who in the entire world does not wish to have their energy bills reduced by 80% or more? Many of us would jump at the chance to take advantage of such a great deal. You can make your own homemade solar panels and install a system for less than $200. Earth4Energy sells a step by step guide that shows you how to do it.

The Earth4Energy guide has: quick and easy instructions, what parts to buy and where to find them, a bonus section on how to build a homemade wind generator to save more money off your energy bill, and a 60 day guarantee that if you are not saving hundreds of dollars a month off your monthly power bill you get all your money back, no questions asked.

There are videos as well for those of us who learn better by seeing.

It still seems incredible to me that anyone can follow this guide and build a homemade solar panels and wind power system and save 80% off their monthly energy bill. I think the reason we do not hear about this in mainstream media more is because of special interests blocking this kind of technology. Think about it. The big energy companies hate you for producing your own energy and the government hates you because they can not tax it.

I built my own homemade solar panel system and am saving about 40% off my monthly power bill. The reason I am saving only 40% is that I’m starting off small, with only a few panels and a very small battery bank. I plan on expanding my solar power system when I get more money.

Do not give more of your dwindling cash to the large power corporations, you need to look at Lance Jensen’s incredible free blog on making homemade solar panels and how to make a solar panel

Has an ordinary man solved the energy crisis by using trash to create a DIY solar system?

Has an ordinary man solved the energy crisis by using trash to create a DIY solar system?

An ordinary citizen, albeit brilliant, has solved the energy crisis and our dependency on oil. He has created a 6 kwh solar system one can make at home for under $5,500. If a 6 kwh system was build with PV panels, it would cost about $80,000 to install.

What really gets my goat is that the powers that be in the United States want us all to think that after 15 years, and hundreds of millions of dollars in “government grants” to big oil companies to develop alternative energy projects, they could not come up with a system with this much yield for so cheap. Whatever! Chevron, Exxon, and the U.S. Department of Energy are not interested in these kinds of DIY homemade solar systems because they can’t make money off it. Big oil wants an alternative solution that keeps you as a paying customer while the U.S. government wants to be able to tax the solution. If everyone could pull as much energy as they needed completely from the air, the government could not get tax revenues with such a system, unless they taxed sunlight. Both big oil and the U.S. government only want an alternative energy solution that enriches them.

The billionaire oil executives in America will not let a DIY homemade solution hit mainstream America. They do not want you empowered and able to produce your own electricity simply by pulling it from free light.

The truth gets much darker than this. The oil trade is killing average people in Nigeria, Burma, and other countries. Nigeria and Burma are just two countries in which big oil has brought great harm and death to average people. Big oil is telling the Nigerian government where they want their luxury houses to be built. The government is sending in bulldozers to remove entire neighborhoods of poor people. They are even destroying churches. You can find videos of what is happening in Nigeria courtesy of YouTube.

Nigeria is only a portion of the cruelty to people in the name of profits for big oil. The U.N. Security Council has condemned the Burmese military junta for its treatment of its people. All companies have left the region except for Chevron. While the pipe line was being built, supervised by oil executives, the Burmese military junta forced villagers along the pipeline into slavery. Here are a Burmese citizens own words, “When there was no pipeline, there were no problems with soldiers. No soldiers came to this area. The soldiers came when we were harvesting rice. After the pipeline reached our village, we were told we had to work for the white people at gun point. We were forced by the soldiers into slavery. If we said we had to plant rice and would not do work for the white people, they said they would kill us and all our children. Because of the white people, our home was destroyed and the men had to run into the jungle or be killed. Many were killed. My husband escaped into the jungle. I waited for him to come back. While I was waiting, a soldier walked up to me and hit me with his rifle. I hit my head on a stone when I fell and lost consciousness. When I awoke, my baby had been burned alive in a fire. She did not cry. Her body was burned and all black.”

Now keep in mind that an average, ordinary American, albeit very intelligent, created an affordable DIY solar power system. The U.S. Department of Energy has been giving big oil companies like Chevron millions of dollars each year of tax payers money to create an alternative energy solution to break us from our dependency on oil. It sounds like big oil has been running a tax payers scam using the U.S. Department of Energy as the vehicle. During the Bush Administration and Republican control, the Department of Energy was staffed with pro big oil corporate executives and lobbyists. They have come up with very little and yet here is an ordinary citizen without any kind of multi-million dollar tax payer funded research budget, and he has created an affordable solar energy solution.

Here is the video. Prepared to be blown away. [youtube:fApJNTtb8Xw;[link:your keyword here];http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fApJNTtb8Xw&feature=related]

Solar energy from the sun is the most abundant source of energy on the planet. The sun provides heat, light, and life to every human on Earth. We can now use our sun to make solar power for everyday use.

Why is solar power better than other forms of energy production?

The solar energy solution is gaining popularity amongst the alternate energy solutions.

Solar power is a green energy. When you examine the solar energy solution, you will discover that it uses no fuel other than the suns light. Also, it will not release anything bad into earth’s atmosphere.

Cheaper solution: First, the energy comes free. Then, the installation cost is a one-time cost. Finally, if you make your solar power system at home and install it yourself, the investment is recovered within a few months of installation (longer depending on how big your solar power system is), making the power generated by solar energy free.

You can store solar power: The big power corporations do not allow you to store the power they send to your home but you can store your own power with solar. Even in the dark or during a complete black out in your area, your power will stay on because you stored your power during the day in what is called a battery bank.

Lower maintenance costs. Solar power systems are very easy to maintain. A solar power system involves minimal effort to maintain letting you relax and enjoy your solar power.

We can start using solar power right now in the following ways:

Solar oven cooking system: You can now cook without using any electricity or gas! You can cook absolutely free! A solar oven will let you bake, boil, or roast! The only slight disadvantage to a solar oven is that it takes a while to heat up. But you will feel great knowing that you cooked your meal without having to pay the big energy corporations a penny!

Solar lighting system: You can now light up the entire house and use every electrical appliance without even thinking about having to turn anything off. The solar power system powers everything in your house even at night, thanks to the battery bank.

Solar heating system: You can make your home nice and warm with a solar heating system without worrying about your energy bill.

Today we as human beings have managed to destroy a good part of our planed. We have outlived our stay under the earth’s atmosphere and in many ways have made existence and evolution of the earth impossible. The way things are going are not the way they should because if they do we will find ourselves in trouble we won’t be able to get ourselves out of. The LEED Green Associate is dedicated to teaching and helping people save our planet.

When you look at green technology it gives you all the convinces of regular technology minus the harm it does to the planet. However a couple of decades back green technology was considered impractical because it was too expensive to implement. This in turn slowed down the momentum of green technology.

As of a few years from now businesses and the government have begun to realize that the cost of green technologies is not much compared to what it was many years from now. People have also realized that green technology has a lot of potential and savings.

President Obama announced increasing investment in green technologies. The growing movement has shown potential for the future of sustainable energy. The stimulus package which has been set forth is planned to create 3. 5 millions job opportunities for the green sector over the coming two years. However the private sector is still lagging behind in terms of progress.

However the private sector’s reasoning behind green technologies is not totally unfounded. In the beginning green technology was expensive and difficult to implement, this meant that many small businesses just stopped thinking about them. They didn’t want to invest in something in which the return was so low while the investment was very high. However in recent years the demand for green technology has meant that there has been a steady decline in the cost.

According to the national association of realtors the costs related to sustainable and green construction has decreased significant ally. It’s decreased to appoint where green construction costs only 1 – 2% higher than conventional constructions. The savings are however over the 25% mark. When people see these figures they don’t mind spending a few extra dollars implementing green technology.

What LEED Green Associate really does is it educates people about various green technologies and their implementation. Keeping in mind that the future of our technology in coming years is almost exclusively going to be green, people need to be trained to speed up the process. What used to be thought of as an expensive exercise is now considered a slightly expensive alternative to conventional technology.

When people see the amount of money they can save with such technologies it’s not a hard thing for them to invest a few extra dollars in green technology. Today the possibilities that this great technology holds is boundless. What is required though is education about green technologies and how it should be used. The trend towards green technologies has gained momentum but more momentum is required in order for these technologies to fully replace conventional ones.

The good news is that cost resistance towards green technology is slowly loosing ground. People have begun to realize that the expense of the environment is nothing compared to the high energy costs. This positive shift is thus giving green technology a boost in the right direction.

Today the American president has taken the first step towards green technology by investing in the green movement. The government has begun to show support for the potential and the future of sustainable energy. The stimulus package set forth by the Obama administration has plans to create over 3. 5 million jobs in the green energy sector over the next twenty four months. The private sector however has been slower to adapt than the public one.

However the private sector’s resistance towards the cost of green technologies is not totally unfounded. When green technology first began to take its first steps it was expensive. However the costs required a commitment to our future as well as to the green movement. Back then the return on investing on green technology was not a lot. However today technology has evolved and as the demand rises the costs have gradually declined to quite an extent.

The National Association of Realtors have reported that the cots related to sustainable and green construction technology has decreased to quite an extent. In the most recent estimates green construction will cost around 1-1. 5% higher than normal construction costs. However if you look at the energy savings it stands at around a 25% savings average.

Practically thinking about implementing green technologies goes without saying that there is a lot of money to be made and saved in this sector. However education is the key towards progress green technologies. Its save to say that we are going to see the implementation of many new green technologies in the not to distant future.

There are a lot of factors to consider when managing a business or a major facility. One of the main concerns that people tend to overlook or not put much thought into is how to deal with trash. Some facilities have the potential to produce huge amounts of trash, and it has to be dealt with somehow. In many cases, there’s too much trash for it to be hauled away by a garbage collection company without being compacted. In those cases, a trash compactor may be the best solution. How do you know if you need a compactor -and if you need one, how do you know which one is right for your needs?

To know whether or not you need a compactor at all, you just have to figure out how much waste your facility churns out in a week. Most small businesses, such as simple stores or restaurants, don’t generate enough waste to require the use of a compactor. Industrial facilities or other companies that produce more waste are more likely to have use for a compactor. Generally, a facility should be producing at least 30 cubic yards of waste every week to justify a small compactor. From that point, it’s just a matter of scale. There are compactors that can handle hundreds of cubic yards of waste a week.

A compactorr is an expensive piece of equipment, so it’s important to make sure that you’re getting a good one. There are several key questions that you should have answers to before you start shopping around for a compactor. The first and most obvious question has to do with size. You need to figure out exactly how much waste the facility will generate and find a compactor that is big enough, but not too big. However, you may want to consider getting a bigger model if your facility is likely to grow.

It’s also important to note the size of not only the overall amount of waste, but the individual objects that make up the trash. Particularly large objects may have a hard time fitting into some compactors. Try and find dimensions of the largest objects that will need to be compacted so you can compare it against the opening on the compactor.

You’ll also need to consider where the compactor is going to be. It should be in a place where it’s not too inconvenient for workers to access, but it also must be easily reachable by trash collection services.

Another factor to consider is the ease of use of the unit. Since people are going to have to be trained to use the compactor, it’s helpful to have one that is easy to learn. Along the same lines, safety is also a major factor. The compactor you choose should be safe so that your employees don’t get injured while using it.

Once you’ve nailed down the answers to those key questions, you’ll be able to find a trash compaction solution that works for your business.
